Citrus japonica (kumquat)

Also known as Chinese mandarin, it is native to South Asian regions. The shrub in cultivation maintains rather small dimensions. It produces abundant fruits characterized by a rounded, slightly elongated shape and the classic coloring of the mandarin. It is ideal for growing in pots. It requires sunny exposures possibly sheltered from the winter cold. Watering must be regular. Fertilize in spring until late autumn with a specific product for citrus fruits. Requires rich, well-drained soil.
