Myrtus communis microphylla

Myrtle is a plant belonging to the Mirtaceae family, native to the Mediterranean coasts. It is an aromatic plant widely used for its medicinal properties and for the production of the homonymous liqueur. It is characterized by leathery, dark green, shiny foliage, full of glands which are then the source of essential oils. From late spring until summer, it produces rather small white inflorescences. It also produces fruits, that is, dark colored berries.
